Dr. Bernard Cooke is from Marinette, Wisconsin. He received his A.B. and M. A. degrees from St. Louis University. He also earned a S.T.Lic. from St. Mary's College, Kansas and a S.T.D. from the Institut catholique de Paris, as well as receiving a Litt.D. (Honorary) from the University of Detroit. Dr. Cooke also did some specialized graduate study in Muenster, Germany.
Dr. Cooke was a Professor of Theology and Chairman of the Department of Theology at Marquette University. He was a Research Fellow at Yale Divinity School. He has been a Professor of the Department of Religious Studies, University of Windsor, Canada. Also, Dr. Bernard Cooke has been the Bernard Hanley Visiting Professor at the University of Santa Clara. He has served as a Consultant and Examiner (for graduate programs in theology) for the North Central Association. Dr. Cooke is presently a Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Calgary, Canada.
Dr. Bernard Cooke is an internationally known lecturer in theology. He has lectured in the United States, Canada, FRance, Spain, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, Ireland and East Africa.
Dr. Cooke's areas of professional specialization are: Sacramental Theology (Religious symbolism), New Testament, Religious Psychology, and History of Theological Method.
Dr. Bernard Cooke is al member of the following Learned & Professional Societies: Catholic Theological Society of America, Catholic Biblical Association, and the College Theology Society.
He has written extensively on the subject of Theology. His latest book is Ministry in Word and Sacrament. In 1978 he was presented the John Courtney Murray Award by the Catholic Theological Society of America.
